Idaho Court of Appeals

The Idaho Court of Appeals plays a crucial role in the state’s judicial system by handling appeals assigned to it by the Supreme Court. Created in 1980 to ease the caseload of the Supreme Court, this intermediate appellate court consists of three judges who review cases ranging from criminal appeals to civil disputes. While its rulings are final in most cases, decisions can sometimes be reviewed by the Supreme Court.

Members of the Idaho Court of Appeals

Justices of the Idaho Supreme Court and judges of the Idaho Court of Appeals are elected in nonpartisan elections for six-year terms. If a vacancy occurs before an election, the governor can appoint a replacement, who must then stand for election in the next general election.
